The Graphics and Gaming Group carries out research on computer graphics and computer game technology. It was established at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown by Hugh McCabe and Matt Smith. Our initial work was oriented around exploring new technologies for gaming and we conducted several research projects in this area. Our more recent interests have been in novel ways of using game technology in application domains outside gaming itself – with a particular focus on games for learning.
We have been awarded funding for many research projects and have also incorporated games development into the undergraduate work of our Computing and Creative Digital Media students – both as a means of enhancing programming and multimedia skills and as an application area for final year projects.
